Our congregation is fortunate to have talented writers who have published books we carry in BookMarks, our church bookstore.  Etta Wilson and Betsy Davies are two of these accomplished writers. Garden Devotions: On God, Grief, and Growth by Betsy Davies God’s love and life’s hardships are evident in our backyard gardens. From the transformation of seeds, through battles with weeds, to the use of the fruit, gardens are an apt metaphor for the Christian life. Betsy Davies walks us through the seasons and the lessons she learns through each of them. No matter what is happening in her garden—transformation, growth, weeds, predators, fruit, or no fruit—Betsy relates how they reflect scripture and what we can learn about the nature of God and his love for us. She began writing a weekly devotional about her garden after her husband died. They had gardened together for thirty years; she is now learning to garden without him.  Sustenance: Poems by Etta Wilson Etta Wilson has been active in the publishing world for many years. She has served as a school librarian, an editor, a literary agent, and a writer.  She has written six books for children, numerous reviews and blogs, and a book for school children about well-known Tennesseans.  Writing poetry is a new experience which she enjoys very much. Her book Sustenance was published in May, and it includes poems on a variety of subjects. She has been an active member of FPC since 1989, serving in numerous ways. She and her husband, Amos, have two daughters and four grandsons.
